Position Title: Senior Manager - Manufacturing / DGM - Manufacturing

 

Position Overview: The Manufacturing Head for the Machine Tool Industry is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of manufacturing operations within the organization. This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and operational expertise to ensure efficient and effective production processes while meeting quality standards, deadlines, and cost targets.

 

High level Job Objectives:

  • Plans and manages the overall production activities of a plant ensuring compliance to global standards.
  • Responsible for production schedules and performance indicators for measuring progresses.
  • Monitors daily operations to identify and resolve problem areas relating to staffing, scheduling, tooling, EHS, quality and production line arrangement.
  • Ensure Monthly sales via manufacturing and maintaining OTD. Responsible for Topline via Manufacturing and Sales Invoicing
  • Ensure & Closely monitor Project Management and hold Daily & Weekly meetings to deliver Projects on time.
  • Responsible for various departments like Production, Production Planning, Inhouse Assembly, Outsourse Assembly, Electrical Engineering, Quality, Inhouse Manufacturing, Paint Booth, Packing & Dispatch
  • In charge of people development. Ensure the shopfloor discipline. Adhere to the all the department KPIs.
  • Providing technical expertise and lead the technical discussion and provide the technical solutions to customers during the pre-sales and post-sales phases.
  • Work closely with sales team, customers, and internal engineering departments to understand customer requirements, propose technical solutions, and ensure successful implementation of products or services and lead the technical services group and provide the timely guidance to the technical service team.

 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize manufacturing processes, improve productivity, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • Production Management: Oversee the day-to-day manufacturing operations, including production scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow management to meet production targets and customer demands.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to quality standards and compliance with regulatory requirements throughout the manufacturing process. Implement quality control measures to minimize defects and ensure product quality.
  • Cost Management: Monitor manufacturing costs, identify areas for cost reduction, and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or efficiency.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to the manufacturing team, including hiring, training, and performance management, to foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and efficiency enhancements. Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives to streamline operations and reduce waste.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and components, negotiate contracts, and resolve any issues or disputes.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment for all manufacturing personnel. Implement safety protocols, training programs, and risk mitigation measures.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments such as engineering, procurement, sales, and logistics to coordinate activities and ensure alignment of manufacturing objectives with overall business goals.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track manufacturing performance, analyze data, and generate regular reports for senior management to evaluate progress and make informed decisions.
  • Responsible for the plant production and adherence to the timelines as per the KPIs and customer timelines.
  • Provide strategic input to facilitate achievement of business results.
  • Assess external developments and develop risk mitigation strategies in the area of manufacturing
  • Lead the Safety Leadership Committee and develop the site Safety Flight Plan and monitor progress and clear any organizational barriers that may prevent achieving goal of 100% Safe. Establish and enforce safety environment with clear roles and responsibilities, and regularly monitor performance using Safety Reviews.
  • Responsible for plant financial performance
  • Responsible to assure customer satisfaction needs are meet - lead time, on-time delivery, quality of product
  • Responsible to assure proper manpower levels are in place to support demand. In charge of people satisfaction and development.
  • Responsible for reducing costs through lean and 6 Sigma programs.
  • Responsible for adhering to the all the EHS standards including employee training, team communication.
  • Responsible for all the departmental audits like ISO, QMS etc.
  • Responsible for team development, shopfloor workmen discipline and getting timely approvals from the management

 

Education, Work Experience, Skills, Certificates

 

  • BE in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proven experience in manufacturing operation management. Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing process, equipment and technologies
  • Leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, drive change and achieve results.
  • Excellent problem solving abilities and decision making skills
  • Lean / 6 Sigma certifications,
  • In-depth knowledge on production processes, machinery, and equipment used in manufacturing.
  • Effective communication with shopfloor employees and cross functional departments to coordinate production activities.
  • Experience in working with companies having labour unions.
  • 8+ year of experience in machine tool industries is preferred. Knowledge on carbide tool manufacturing process.
  • Knowledge of quality standards and procedures to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Knowledge on SAP
