Position Summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join Kennametal as an Application Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating customer manufacturing needs and providing complete engineering solutions with associated costs.

Serving customers across the South of England, through both direct and indirect channels, you will engage in customer-facing activities including the analysis of complex applications, process improvements, tooling trials, and technical recommendations. You will also provide technical support to the sales team and other departments.

This requires technical expertise, including a working knowledge of various materials, machine tools, and modern machining processes. Experience with 3 and 5-axis programming and the ability to manipulate solid models is advantageous. You will also offer advice on fixturing (work-holding & tooling) and machining techniques.

 

What We're Looking For

  • Recognized qualification in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or a time-served apprenticeship.
  • Experience in the metal cutting or precision tooling industry.
  • Understanding of programming 3 and 5 Axis CNC Turning and Milling machines and experience working with exotic materials.
  • In-depth knowledge of the manufacturing industry and concepts associated with Kennametal Products.
  • An innovative, self-motivated individual who can work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM systems (MS Dynamics).
  • A working knowledge of CAD/CAM software is desirable.

 

This is a field-based role covering the South of England.

£50,000
