Job Title: Advanced Manufacturing Engineer – Manufacturing Readiness

Location: Latrobe, PA -- Location is flexible and can be remote or at a manufacturing facility. 

 

 

Job Summary:
 

The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure the successful implementation of products into manufacturing.   Success is measure by monitoring safety, quality, delivery and cost metrics associated with the product implementation.   This is accomplished by aligning global manufacturing resources and processes with strategic product and source location requirements.   Types of projects will include New Product Launches, Product Moves, Product Reactivations, and Strategic Project Initiatives in the metal cutting industry using Kennametal’s stage gate process.    
 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Development and improvement of Manufacturing Readiness processes
  • Facilitation of multiple priority Manufacturing Readiness projects
  • Be the key interface for manufacturing questions involving product, process, capability, capacity, and costing associated with Readiness projects.
  • Support tools to ensure production readiness, including: PPAP’s, Production Releases, DFMEA’s, PFMEA’s, cost analysis, and capital investments.   
  • Proactively identify manufacturing readiness risks and implement actions to mitigate them.
  • Track and communicate key project metrics, milestones, and business objectives to team members and stakeholders.


Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.  Advanced degree (MS/MBA) and additional certifications a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a related role.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead global cross-functional project teams.
  • Experience managing projects through the complete project lifecycle: Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring, Closing.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
