Job Title: Additive Manufacturing Operator
Location: Latrobe, PA
Job Summary and Mission:
Kennametal has an immediate opening for a dependable Additive Manufacturing Technical Process Operator at its modern manufacturing site located in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. This position will be responsible for supporting end-to-end production of customer components and projects using multiple additive machine types with Kennametal qualified materials, along with related de-powdering, sintering, basic quality control equipment, and general tasks. The Additive Manufacturing Technical Process Operator will work under the direction of experienced Additive Technician(s), ultimately reporting to the Additive Manufacturing Operations Sr. Engineer. Please note that this role may require working on the 2nd shift as well, which includes an additional shift differential on top of the regular rate.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate multiple additive manufacturing systems to support the manufacture of 3D printed products and prototypes including the preparation of input files with CAD software through to final output part inspection.
- Set up and cycle operation of KMT Sintering furnaces, including; Build heats using coated trays. Select appropriate sintering program and set up the furnaces for heat cycle.
- Read and follow process instructions and drawings, recognize/attend to details to support the manufacture and characterization of 3D printed products.
- Has working knowledge and skills to perform a defined set of analytical/scientific methods or operational processes.
- Working in a team environment safely, operating complex production equipment, manufacturing software and tools in the manufacturing and transfer of various products.

- Providing continuous feedback for manufacturing process improvement.

- Provide on-site troubleshooting assistance for printers and furnace equipment.
- Confer with / assist engineering, supervisory, or manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information.
- Complete all necessary documentation, electronic data entries and communications accurately and timely.
- Move all materials, either physically or mechanically, necessary to complete assignments
- Maintain work area in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Support Lean initiatives and continuously identify and propose solutions to improve customer satisfaction through improved processes, quality, reduction in waste, increased efficiency & reduced lead times
- Be committed to working safely, and following all company safety policies and procedures to achieve a 100% safe work environment
Education & Skills/Experience:
· 1 year+ experience operating Additive Manufacturing equipment and processes preferred
· Hands-on working knowledge of CNC, Robotics, Manufacturing controls and systems a plus
· General electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills a plus
· Knowledge of blueprint reading and dimensioning, as well as proper use and care of precision measurement tools required
· Computer/digitally savvy, including use of Microsoft suite of programs, CAD programs etc.
· Very detail oriented with proven accountability for outcomes
· Must have High School diploma or GED.
· Two (2) year technical/ Associate degree preferred in mechanical, industrial, electrical, or equivalent relevant manufacturing experience.
Physical Requirements
· Approximately eight hours of standing, intermittent walking, reaching, sitting, and bending. Lifting component trays, powder boxes weighing no more than fifty (50) pounds.
