Sr Sales Engineer Machine Tool Industry

Location: Greater Los Angeles, will support territory to include multi-state territory in Western United States. Travel % estimated up to 75%. 

 

Job Summary:

  

Kennametal is seeking a Sr. Sales Engineer to support our partnerships with Machine Tool Builders to grow our metal cutting business in the Western United States. Come join an industry-leading company in a role that will be on the forefront of new projects with an opportunity to make an immediate impact for the organization. This technical sales role provides the ability to see opportunity in challenges and creates solutions that provide a positive impact for our machine tool customers. The candidate will need to possess the ability to gain the trust and respect of customers by not only establishing the relationship, but by listening to their challenges, solving technical issues, and following through on commitments in a timely manner. This is a field sales role that is based in a home-office within Greater Los Angeles area supporting a multi-site territory throughout the Western US. Required travel between 50%-75% to meet customer and financial goal demands.

Key Job Responsibilities:

 

·       Establish relationships with new and existing Kennametal machine tool customers to provide solutions

·       Manage and coordinate the execution of large customer projects with engineering and operations to exceed customer expectations.

·       Meet sales revenue goals of growth and profitability

·       Promote and implement both custom and standard Kennametal Metal Cutting solutions.

·       Advocate for Kennametal to the customer, advocate for the customer to Kennametal.

·       Collaborate across multiple business segments

·       Grow focus products through initiative activities

·       Develop and maintain customer associated data to provide consultative partnership (CRM)

·       Execute growth initiative projects

·       Travel approximately 50%  - 75%

 

Typical Education or Equivalent Work Experience:

 

·       6+ years’ experience in machining/metal cutting industry

·       Technical training in machining and programming

·       Associates or Bachelors in Engineering or related field or equivalent level of industry experience

·       Strong technical understanding of metal cutting tooling

·       Practical experience interpreting technical drawings and specifications

·       CAD/CAM experience

·       Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

·       Working cross-functionally with customers, engineering, and manufacturing locations
