Kennametal is currently hiring a Commodity Specialist that can be based from either Latrobe, PA or downtown Pittsburgh. This highly visible position supports the global commodity categories of Corporate Services which will include Travel & Expense, HR and recruiting services, Training, Consulting, Office Supplies and Legal. This position involves supporting the development and implementation of strategic sourcing strategies, negotiating contracts, and driving cost savings initiatives as well as liaising with cross-functional teams, monitoring market trends, and ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policies. The Commodity Specialist will have to opportunity to contribute to optimizing procurement processes, managing risks, and delivering value in Corporate Services globally. Key Responsibilities
- Supports the development, implementation, and governance of sourcing strategies for Corporate Services/ Travel and Expense (T&E) categories commodity categories; including supplier selection, supplier relationship development, supplier performance optimization, pricing & contract negotiations, leveraging sourcing tools to secure optimum value, understanding & mitigating supply chain risk, etc.
- Liaise with key stakeholders in Business Units, RD&E and others as determined to coordinate business requirements and ensure a stable supply chain while delivering optimum value.
- Liaise with regional sourcing groups (Americas, EMEA, Asia Pacific, Latin America and India) to understand local requirements and ensure proper support as needed.
- Key Metrics & Outcomes include: Ethics, Cost Reduction, DPO, Touchless Procurement, Supplier On-Time Delivery & Quality, Supplier Lead Time Reduction, Inflation Mitigation
- Develops detailed knowledge and understanding of cost drivers and manufacturing/service processes related to assigned commodity categories and leverages this knowledge to optimize value for Kennametal .
- Drives to develop and understand internal stakeholder requirements and uses this information to assist in recommendation of sourcing decisions.
- Supports project management function in designing, planning, and managing projects to deliver value-added solutions within defined time and cost parameters.
- Work cross functionally with HR, Finance and Audit to improve the current Travel and Expense process.
- Administer the corporate travel program, serving as a liaison between the users and the travel management company.
- Act as corporate credit card administrator for both travel and expense cards.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (RQ) in Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering; MBA (PF)
- Experience: 3+ years in Strategic Sourcing (RQ) with 1+ years of Global Strategic Sourcing (PF).
- Proficiency: MS Office, Excel, Word & PowerPoint (RQ), SAP (PF)
- Maintains the highest level of integrity, ethics commitment to safety and compliance to KMT’s code of conduct; role models these behaviors for suppliers.
- Ability to understand organization of internal customer groups, key users and characteristics of these customers. Drives to understand customer requirements and uses this information as an input into sourcing decisions. Develops and fosters mutually beneficial customer relationships.
- Skilled in analytics; leverages ERP software & raw data to organize and prioritize information for decision making.
